The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has taken a significant step toward promoting social inclusion and accessibility with the installation of a modern stair lift at its head office in Falomo, Ikoyi to signpost its constant alliance with the Lagos State Government’s THEMES+ agenda and commitment to foster an inclusive society where all individuals, including persons who are physically challenged and the elderly, can access public facilities with ease.
The stair lift id a state-of-the-art mobility solution which also align with the Sustainable Development Goals SDG-10 is designed to assist individuals with mobility challenges in navigating the building’s staircase safely and comfortably. This installation reflects LASWA’s dedication to improving customer experience, ensuring that all visitors, staff, and stakeholders can conveniently access its services or do business with the organisation.
In a press statement signed by Mr Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, LASWA’s General Manager, he emphasized the agency’s commitment to accessibility and inclusivity in public infrastructure.
"we believe that access to public facilities should not be a barrier to anyone. The installation of this stair lift is a testament to our continuous efforts to create a welcoming environment for all, regardless of physical ability. We remain committed to making Lagos waterways and our offices more inclusive and accessible to everyone.” He said.
The new stair lift installation is part of LASWA’s broader initiative to enhance infrastructure across its facilities, ensuring safety, convenience, and improved service delivery.
